EU Regulatory Compliant (RC) PTFE for Thermoplastics and Elastomers
Shamrock offers a range of EU Regulatory Compliant (RC) PTFE micropowders made from Natural prime and Recycled raw materials.
Shamrock’s RC PTFE products are produced to be in compliance with Commission Delegated Regulation adopted on April 8th 2020 amending Annex I to POPs Regulation (EU) 2019/1021 taking effect on July 4th 2020 (per Shamrock QSOP-202E).
Shamrock RC PTFE products are used to reduce friction and wear between contacting surfaces and are available in a range of particle sizes, molecular weights, and thermal stability which can be used in engineering plastics, elastomers, and thermosets.
Addendum: The EU has added C9-C14 PFCAs and C9-C14 PFCA-related substances under ANNEX XVII of REACH. The new law will become effective on February 25, 2023.
On August 5, 2021, the European Union (EU) published Regulation (EU) 2021/1297 to replace entry 68 to Annex XVII of Regulation (EC) 1907/2006 on Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH, consolidated version to July 2021) in relation to ‘Restrictions on the manufacturing, placing on the market and use of certain dangerous substances, mixtures and articles.’
Thermoplastic Additives
Shamrock recommends the use of PTFE to provide performance properties such as wear resistance, slip and anti-dripping.
Shamrock micronized PTFE powders are used to provide performance properties such as wear resistance, surface slip, and anti-drip. These free flowing powders are normally pre-mixed into master-batches or compounds in the resin of choice at levels from 20-40% by weight, to facilitate uniform distribution and performance in the final part.
MicroFLON® T-Series
MicroFLON® T powders are based on recycled PTFE that has been sintered and micronized to various particle sizes. These powders are designed for thermoplastics, thermosets, and elastomers to reduce friction and enhance wear properties. They may be used compounds based on nylon, POM, PC, PP, ABS, blends, as well as a variety of elastomers and thermosets.

MicroFLON® S-Series
MicronFLON® S products are made from suspension grade Natural Prime PTFE powders. In thermoplastics, thermosets, and elastomers, MicroFLON® S facilitates lubrication and wear resistance. They may be easily compounded for use in nylon, PC, POM, ABS, PBT, blends, and select grades are suitable for high temperature engineering plastics such as PPS, PEEK, and PEI.
MicroFLON® S powders are prime PTFE micronized to various particle sizes.

NanoFLON® Series
Shamrock’s NanoFLON® products are made from emulsion grade Natural Prime PTFE. NanoFLON® products are offered as agglomerated particles to aid with free flow and ease of incorporation, with a primary particle size as low as 200 nanometers. They are being compounded into a variety of elastomers, and into PS, fluorinated polymers and PP compounds for films, to improve the surface lubricity and wear resistance

These MicroFLON® and NanoFLON® powders are Natural Prime grade micronized PTFE designed for food contact applications. These PTFE additives are recommended for thermoplastics and elastomers to reduce friction and enhance anti-wear properties.
