Sustainability and the Circular Economy
James Wittig highlights Shamrock’s commitment to sustainability and the Circular Economy in an interview with Ink World magazine.
What is Shamrock doing to play a part in sustainability and the circular economy?
Shamrock Technologies is committed to building the future of the ink industry with a heavy emphasis on sustainability and regulatory compliance. We are tightening our quality control standards, to be sure that we continue in the direction of being a responsible member of the community in helping to preserve our environment – which is why we started with the recycling of PTFE over 40 years ago.
The use of recycled PTFE reduces the amount of waste that ends up in landfills. To date, we have recycled more than 150 million pounds of PTFE. As a result of our commitment, we have effectively saved an estimated 1.5 billion pounds of CO2 emissions.
In anticipation of adopting the REACH amendment on July 4, 2020, Shamrock has been investing for several years to develop regulatory compliant PTFE products. Our R&D team developed test methods to ensure conformance of our products, which is backed up with lot by lot testing, and certified by our CoA.
If you are looking for PTFE based products to use in ink for food packaging, can coatings and many more, reach out to our technical team. We work 1-on-1 to ensure the best additives are used for their performance requirements and ensure their formulations will be in compliance downstream for the international market.
