Product Description
S-394 N5 is a polyethylene wax powder with narrow melt point temperature range and reduced solubility for use in a wide range of inks and coatings. It has a fairly high melt point, with a softening point only a few degrees lower.
Application
S-394 N5 is easily incorporated with mild agitation (or high speed mixing equipment). S-394 N5 is compatible with PTFE at levels of 0.5 – 1.0% (SST-2 or SST-3).
Inks: Liquid and Paste Inks.S-394 N5 provides excellent rub resistance, excellent imprintability and freedom from overprint varnish “crawling.” It is ideal for ink applications requiring only a light canning pass. It is used in paste inks with normal three-roll milling.
Coatings: Can, Coil, Powder, Wood, Industrial, and UV Coatings. S-394 N5 enhances mar resistance, recoatabillity, hardness, and anti-blocking characteristics.
Recommended Levels
Inks: 1.0 to 2.0% of total formula weight for liquid inks. 2.0 to 3.0% of total formula weight for paste inks. Coatings: 2.0 to 3.0% of total formula weight. Note: Higher concentrations of S-394 N5 may cause gloss reduction.
