SST®–5D

PTFE Micropowder

SST® products are Shamrock’s PTFE micropowders that are defined by particle size and distribution, molecular weight, crystallinity, surface area, oil adsorption, powder flow, and color. Made primarily from highly controlled PTFE feedstocks, SST® products are used for their ability to provide controlled slip, non-stick, water repellency, texture, release, rub, and abrasion resistance to surfaces.

Product Description:

SST®-5D is a white low MW PTFE powder with an aggregate particle size mean value of 5 μm, and may be de-agglomerated into submicron particles with appropriate mixing.

Application:

SST®-5D is recommended for thin film inks and coatings. SST®-5D is also recommened in all water-based, solvent-based, powder, and UV coating systems at 3% of total formula weight (or 0.5-1% when used with 2-3% synthetic wax). Typical applications include high rub offset inks, direct-to-metal (DTM) coatings, can coatings, specialty lubricating coatings for nuts and bolts and metal fasteners.
